Preliminary note
- Homework
In ALL courses students receive weekly homework that is marked in detail and returned promptly to enable them to understand their strengths as well as areas of improvement. This is a vital aspect of their progress.
- Vocabulary
It is important for students to expand their personal vocabulary in order to enrich the range of their expression both written and oral, therefore vocabulary extension and testing continues throughout the year in all classes.

Students learn to develop their abilities to understand and write in a wide range of styles thereby developing their understanding of and writing skills in areas genres as:
- Creative writing particularly narratives
- Imaginative recreations
- Persuasive writing

- Formal responses both short and long in relation to texts studie

All English skills will be improved through the study of a wide variety of literary, non-literary and multi-media material.
All students are given homework every week which is expertly marked with very detailed editing and comments along with a final score. This enables students to understand their strengths as well as any potential weaknesses, guiding them towards mastery in English.
Weekly homework gives students in-depth feedback and allows teachers to build a complete profile of each student’s development. Feedback is also given in yearly reports.
All classes involve continuous dialogue between the teacher and students via questions and answers, as well as student motivated questions and contributions. Students are encouraged to actively participate in their learning.

During our Intensive Writing classes, we expose students to a carefully curated range of texts, both literary and non-literary, as well as multimedia forms.This enables them to recognise and adopt the stylistic features appropriate to the different text types in their own writing.
Text types include narratives in different perspectives, essays, creative rewrites, discursive, argumentative, and persuasive texts, as well as polyvocal texts, textual hybridity, and experimental fiction.
